Rakesh Sarna Highlights the Need for Constant Learning and Improvement

By Adam Published December 9, 2019 Updated October 14, 2022

Constant learning and improvement are extremely important in not only your career, but also your personal life. Not only will it broaden your horizons, but you can get a real sense of fulfillment. Many professionals, like Rakesh Sarna, talk about and promote the importance of this approach for personal development. Many people know that it’s important but aren’t really sure what kinds of benefits it gives. With that being the case, this article is going to take a look at 8 benefits of constantly learning and improving yourself.

Career Advancement
The first benefit is that it helps with career advancement. Many people find that they love their job and employer, but don’t have the ability to move up because they don’t have the skills or education needed for a higher position. Choosing to participate in continuous learning will make it possible to get a promotion and move up to those positions that require a little bit more skill. While you can choose to learn more at the time you decide you want to move up, it would work out better if you start learning as soon as possible. This is especially true if you already plan on trying to move up the corporate ladder, but you still have a few years before that’s possible.

Better Preparation
You never know what might happen or what kind of unexpected twist might get thrown at you. By choosing to continue learning and improving yourself, Rakesh Sarna believes that you’ll be better prepared to deal with whatever comes your way. It’s much better to learn as much as you can than to only learn a few things and not know how to deal with various situations. Keep in mind, this includes learning new things about your career and about life in general. The more you learn, the higher chance you have of being able to deal with situations easily and flawlessly.

New Ideas
Continuous learning can also make it possible to come up with new ideas that you might not have thought of before. Look at it this way – if you don’t choose to continue learning and improving yourself, you’ll only have the knowledge of the world you already know. This means that any ideas you come up with will be constricted to that limited information. If you choose to keep learning, though, you’ll be able to use any new knowledge you attain to come up with ideas that you might not have thought of before. Often times, these new ideas can help the situation much better and give more positive results than ideas that you’ve already thought of hundreds of times.

Better Advantage
It doesn’t matter if you’re at work or doing something in your personal life, choosing to continue learning and improving means you’ll have a better advantage over those that haven’t learned the same things. With work, you’ll end up performing better than a coworker who doesn’t have that knowledge because people will be looking for specific inputs. On the other hand, you’ll have a better advantage in personal situations if you look at it from a point of view that no one else has. Not only will you be able to approach the situation differently, but you’ll be able to come up with different solutions.

More Opportunities
If you choose to keep improving yourself and learning, you’ll have more opportunities available to you, claims Rakesh Sarna. When thinking about your career, learning new things and having more knowledge can help you move up in your current job or help you find a better job at a different company or in a different profession. If you’re thinking about your personal life, you’ll be able to do things like pick up new hobbies or activities which will in turn introduce you to new people and further expand your worldview. Regardless of which area of your life you apply yourself to, you’ll find that you have a lot more fulfillment and enjoyment out of life.

More Fulfillment
Constantly learning and improving yourself can also give you more fulfillment and help you achieve a better sense of self. Not only will you feel a sense of gratification  because you’re learning things, but you’ll also be able to feel better mentally. Like they say, knowledge is power. The more you learn, the more powerful and prepared you’ll feel. Remember, you can learn anything you want and strive for as many achievements and certifications as you want. You’ll have to look and see which learning opportunities are the best for you and your situation, but you have pretty much endless options.

More Relatable
Finally, by continuing to learn and improve yourself, you’ll be more relatable to those around you. For instance, you’ll be able to relate better to those you work with because you’ll all have similar knowledge and know what everyone’s talking about. When thinking about your personal life, you’ll see that you can make friends and have better connections with people who have the same knowledge as you. Consider, for example, how many new opportunities and acquaintances you can earn by learning a new language. While these are only a few benefits that professionals like Rakesh Sarna talk about, there are so many more out there. When it comes down to it, constant learning and improvement can really help you live a better life. It might not seem like a big deal, but it has a bigger positive impact than most know!
