Google PPC vs YouTube Ads: The Best Modern Marketing Platform

By Alan Alexandar Published December 23, 2019 Updated March 17, 2023

The importance of digital marketing in the modern business environment is increasing rapidly. If we go a few years back, you will notice that inbound marketing was considered a risk as results were never guaranteed. However, after evaluating the success of many leading online platforms, we can expect to benefit from investing more in digital strategies instead of traditional. However, two major factors need to be thought about before actually throwing your money in the pot.

Firstly, you should evaluate the nature of your business and target audience. For example, if you are a retailer selling agricultural machines and equipment, you can’t expect the majority of your audience only. In such scenarios, you can opt to invest in billboards, TV commercials and even newspaper ads. In addition to that, a small budget can be kept aside to generate your online presence. – We all know where the future lies.

Once you have decided that to go for digital marketing, the real challenge comes up. Which inbound technique should you start with? There are numerous online marketing techniques used by both B2C and B2B platforms. The target audience, nature of business and budget are significant factors that should be put on the table before planning your next move. Today, I’ll be covering the two leading digital marketing techniques, Google PPC and YouTube Ads. However, which one should be first on your list? Let me help you with that!

Google vs YouTube

If we take a look at the numbers, Google is the most visited website and search engine. Currently, Google has more than 3.5 billion searches per day. On the other hand, according to Alexa, YouTube is ranked as the second-best website in the world.

Though YouTube is on second; you can’t ignore the increasing number of businesses investing in running ads on Google. Why? Well, it’s quite simple. A study showed at the end of 2018 that 85% millennials actually bought something after watching a video. Maybe modern consumers understand descriptive ads with more visual content better clicking on Google PPC ads that lead to a promotional landing page. Or, there could also be a possibility that users have gotten bored of the old-fashioned way of promoting products via Google. Whatever the reason may be, it’s true that YouTube ads are the next big thing in digital marketing.

Which Platform Should You Opt For?

Though both YouTube ads and Google PPC ads both have their significant pros and cons, you should be able to make your mind with which one to trust with your limited budget. Let’s start with Google PPC ads first.

Google Ads

Google ads have proven to turn the tables for almost every online and offline platform that has taken the risk. Since this search engine still has the majority of market share, you can expect your target audience to be looking for you on this platform. Though with the help of SEO technique you can get ranked on the first page, sponsored links are actually shown above the organically ranked ones. That automatically puts your site on the 3rd, or sometimes even on the 4th position. I’m pretty sure you’d go for the first three websites you see first.

Well, you can also grab that top spot by merely setting the highest bid your keywords. The Google ads platform is user-friendly, and you can easily launch your next campaign. All you have to do is set your target audience with the help of demographics, list the keywords you’d like to appear on, set a reasonable bid, and create an attractive and engaging ad copy.

To evaluate your ad, you also run A/B tests. Such a strategy is used to test different variables before actually spending all your money. You can reduce your risks run the right ad copy for the best results.

YouTube Ads

YouTube is one of Google’s products. However, its nature of offering video streaming service to users has helped it gain a separate reputation. Still, this platform is also known for being used as one of the top search engines as well.

The ads you run on YouTube are shown between videos. Though this act may seem irritating to many viewers, you can change that by simply creating better video ads. If your video ads are more engaging, you’ll be able to capture your audience’s attention. Also, you’ll be able to enhance your online presence a credible brand and generate more traffic for your online platform.

Google PPC Ads vs Youtube Ads: The Verdict!

If you are left confused with which platform to invest in, it’s pretty standard. However, as an experienced digital marketer, we can emphatically state that you can use both online marketing platforms to leverage your business. As both Google and YouTube are flooded with traffic every day, you can benefit and increase your level of engagement and awareness. All you have to do is create the best ad copy, whether it’s in text form for Google PPC, or in video form for your YouTube Ads.

A joint approach can turn out to be better for your brand, as you’ll be able to reach out to a broader audience.
