Most ‘earn cash from home’ ads are cons. Yet, if you have a computer, a smartphone and a bit of time, there’s a lot of small ways to boost your coffers. We’ve scoured through thousands of different ideas to find you the best, and most legitimate ones, so you can make money online, monetize your website, or create ways to get paid online.
#1. Get on Swagbucks. These folks will pay you to watch videos! Now, most of them aren’t as entertaining as, say, the Grumpy Cat series, but you’re getting paid, so who cares? This works because the videos on Swagbucks are sponsored by brands who need to get as many views as possible. Every time you watch one of their ads, they’ll credit your account with points called SBs (these can be redeemed for Paypal or gift cards.)
#2. Switch Search Engines. Bing is willing to pay you for your searches. You can earn credits through Big every time you make a search – credits you can cash in for gift cards to a variety of stores like Amazon, Toys ‘r Us, and Starbucks.
#3. Take Online Surveys. Sign up for at least two survey sites, so that you have more options to choose from. This way, you’ll also know about their high-paying surveys ($10 or higher) come around. Try out Springboard Panel, SendEarnings (this gives you $5 just for signing up), or Harris Poll, to start.
#4. Download Apps. There are a number of companies, including Google that is willing to pay you to install their app on your phone. And they’ll pay you for every month you keep them installed. The apps collect data from your phone and help companies understand the web and mobile usage better – such as what times of day people browse, how long they stay on websites and use apps, and what types of sites and apps are popular (or which ones just don’t work.)
#5. Rent/Sell Your Clothes Online. If you have a closet full of things you no longer wear, it would be better to rent or sell them for extra money. Try out SnapGoods, where you can list nearly anything to rent, not just your clothes. And what’s even better—they have a guarantee. SnapGoods guarantees that if something goes wrong, your goods will be repaired or replaced. Best of all, they’ll provide a temporary replacement until the item you have a load or rented out is fixed.
#6. Fix Google’s Search Results. Search engines use algorithms to determine the results you see. Sometimes, however, the search engines are full of misspellings and errors, so they need humans to look at the results and judge them for quality, relevancy, and usefulness.
#7. Test Websites. You’ve probably found yourself complaining to a coworker or family members that some websites are confusing, or praising other websites. Sign up for User Testing and get paid for every 20-minute session you complete, all for watching a video and giving your opinion on websites!
#8. Clickbank can also earn you money as long as you focus on one product and build a unique, high-end website or blog around that product’s audience.
#9. Adsense can take away 30% of your earnings as commission, which isn’t good for people who are just starting to make money. Contact advertisers independently so you can keep all of the profit yourself and remember to keep ads relevant to the traffic your website receives. BuySellAds is also a good option to consider.
#10. Get into blogging. There’s money to be made in having a full-time blog, especially if you focus on a single niche (a bunch of topics related to the same subject.) Try out Wordpress—they give you a free blog and you can pay for them to host your own domain and website. Write articles and see which ones your readers respond to the most and once you have a sizable following, and apply for Google Adsense, which works on a cost per click basis.
#11. Create microniche websites that utilize rare keywords. For example, “credit card” is a common keyword that has plenty of competition, and the probability of your website being first on the Google search list is low. But if you place “credit card in India” or “best credit card in India” you’re creating a keyword that not many people will use outside of India. As a result, you can safely monetize highly searched keywords with low competition.
#12. Write for other blogs. There are blogs that pay for high-quality articles. Get exposure and revenue at the same time. (Experience will earn you more per article!) Another thing, craft a great introduction to your blogs so you’ll gain several followers.

#15. Make creative noise. Make your presence felt. Social media could be your friend (Exposure-wise) or your enemy when it comes to working productivity. Befriending social media is very important if you wish to be noticed and heard. Good at coding or art? Look for people who need your services, and get paid for it. Do what you love and you’ll never work day in your life, as the saying goes.

The service allows anyone to self-publish books on the Kindle (electronic) bookstore and earn royalties from sales. There are two plans you can choose from – the 35% royalty works across any book sold in any country) while the 70% royalty plans works if you sell in a few select countries. Through their program, you can get customized ad links, email links and banner ads for Starbucks, Walmart, iTunes and a slew of other popular brands. With this program, you can also find smaller companies, regional or specialized brands, and more. It’s residual income, and every little bit helps.
#22. Freelance Writing. Freelance writing is one of the most popular ways to earn money online. There are many successful freelancers who can earn an average of 50 cents to a dollar per word. Some are earning twice that. Of course, when starting out as a freelance writer, you’ve got to build your portfolio and resume. However, if you’re interested in writing, and have enough time and dedication, it can be a highly profitable career choice.
At All Cost:
- Avoid joining multi-level marketing, also known as networking. Multi-level marketing is similar to pyramid schemes, which is an illegal practice of a company that solicits members to recruit more members rather than selling an actual product. In turn, the primary source of income for its members is the number of people they have recruited instead of products sold over time.
- Avoid survey companies, pay-per-download companies, and sites with upfront membership fees. No legitimate survey company will ever charge upfront fees. Free resource sites usually provide the same information, such as a list of survey sites to explore.
- Learn to search Google effectively and avoid scam websites that fill your inbox with spam!
- Stay away from those ads that claim that “Google pays me $444 per hour” and “Mom earns $5000 from home” advertisements.
