Building a Brand People Trust

By Justin Weinger Published September 18, 2019 Updated October 14, 2022
Building Brand People Trust

Successful brands are all around us. From Nike and Starbucks to Versace and McDonald’s, brands are memorable, easy to recall, and for some, iconic. Building a successful brand requires more than the ability to attract customers and provide quality products. In order to truly become a brand that people trust, it is essential to devise the right marketing strategy.

The Importance of Brand Trust

Building a successful brand or business is not possible without the trust and loyalty of your followers, customers, and clients. Without trust, there are no customers, and without customers, there is no ability to generate a profit. Building trust between you and your target audience is essential in order to establish your brand as authoritative, trustworthy, and reliable.

With millions of websites, social media influencers, and new companies appearing online each year, it is now more important than ever to build a bond of trust between brands and businesses. As more websites and opportunities appear, more scams, phishing websites, and security breaches also occur. Gaining the trust of your visitors and prospective customers is one of the most important elements of building a successful brand today.

Using Social Media to Create a Brand People Can Trust

Social media is one of the best tools for both individuals and marketers alike to use while building trust with followers of a business and brand. Create a social media presence for your brand on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest to maximize your ability to reach your target audience and the demographics you want to appeal to with your brand. Once you have created social media accounts for your brand, it is important to optimize all of your account pages. Optimize your social media accounts with the following steps:

  • Logo:

Upload and use the same logo on all of your social media accounts. Only use logo files that are of high-quality. Logos that appear grainy, outdated, or simply unappealing as less likely to gain the trust of users or prospective customers.

  • Page Name:

When choosing a name for your account, be sure to streamline all of your social media pages. Brands should always be accessible by entering the same name. If your official name is available on one of your preferred platforms, consider an alternative page name for your brand on all of your accounts.

  • Website URL:

Always add your official website URL to each of the social media pages you create for your brand. A brand will appear more official to new users and followers who are interested in learning more about your brand’s purposes and the products or services you provide.

Create a social media marketing plan by using a content calendar to ensure you remain active on all of your brand’s social media pages. Inactive social media accounts and pages are less likely to appear within the newsfeeds of followers and fans based on various algorithms that are in place. The more active and engaged you are with your brand pages, the more likely your page is to appear to your followers, helping to maximize your reach on social media.

Interact and engage with your followers on social media to build brand trust. Respond to questions, comments, and inquiries publicly rather than doing so in private to showcase transparency. Always respond promptly and professionally, even to users who have left negative remarks. Ask your followers for input and advice when it comes to developing your brand and new products or services you provide.

As you continue to garner new followers and build a loyal community, you will then begin to gain the trust of those who have invested their time in your brand.

Using Influencers to Create Brand Trust

Another major marketing tactic used to create digital marketing strategies includes influencer marketing. Influencer marketing is the process of working together with an individual who has amasses thousands, if not millions of followers on social media due to their skills, hobbies, craft, or even due to their own persona and lifestyle.

Once you have established your official website and your social media presence, begin researching influencers who are most notable in your industry. Seek out influencers who have a similar audience as you but who have already amassed thousands, tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands of users. Working with an influencer is possible by sponsoring them in exchange for an endorsement or a promotion, depending on the platform your chosen influencer uses to reach their audience.

While building a successful brand rarely occurs overnight, it is possible with a commitment to reaching and connecting with your audience. With the right marketing strategy and the ability to truly connect and resonate with your followers, build a brand that is trustworthy and respected by those who matter most.
