What is digital marketing and how does it work you may be asking? It is a fact that cannot be denied that the number of people who use the internet and go online is increasing. Today online shopping is on the increase and offline marketing is not as effective as it was in the past. Marketing is related to connecting your audience in the right place and the right time. Today the people are spending most of their time online and if you meet there in the right place and convince them to shop. It is digital marketing.

If you use digital channels for marketing of your products and reach your customers. It is called digital marketing. The key objective of digital to use digital media for promotion of different products or services. Digital marketing has a variety of channel and the internet is only a part of it.

What is Digital Marketing?

Digital marketing covers all marketing tools that are related to electronic devices or the internet. They include search engines, email, messaging service, social media and other websites which connect you with your respective buyers. Marketers say that inbound marketing and digital marketing resemble with each other but there is a difference, though they may be minor. According to Ten Golden Rules “Digital marketing is generally defined as the use of some digital tools and tactics to have a connection with customers where they spend most of the time”. These tools include websites, digital advertising, email marketing, and online brushers. A lot of other tools also fall under the definition of digital marketing. The digital marketer must have insight into their ultimate goals, customers requirements, and needs. The marketer supports these efforts through free or paid channels. For example, a content marketer creates blog posts that serve as a tool to generate lead. The social media marketer may promote these posts through paid or organic posts on social media accounts. Email marketer sends bulk emails and sends links to download that book.

Inbound and outbound marketing

If you attract your prospective customers by creating related content and incentives and you inspire the people to identify themselves and request more information about the content you created or they buy something. It means that inbound marketing is related to content marketing. SEO, social media marketing is included in inbound marketing because you attract unknown prospect for your business through these programs. In outbound marketing, you have some basic knowledge about your customers and target audience. You offer them services with specific goals. It is accomplished with very specific ways like telemarketing, email marketing, and special events. You market your services through these tools. It is obvious that inbound marketing and outbound marketing have a very subtle and blurred difference.

Digital marketing examples

Before you go advance in digital marketing you must know its basics. The basic strategies used for digital marketing include a number of things you adopt for marketing your product or services. You must have an understanding of different channels used for digital marketing. It has a variety of components. Here is an overview of some of the important tools and tactics we adopt for digital marketing. It must be kept in mind that you may adopt one or more things for your digital marketing strategy and making your services or content viral.

Search Engine Optimization

It is something about ranking your website or blog in search engines. If you want to rank your content higher in the search result and increase free or organic traffic to your website, the process you adopt for this purpose is called SEO. There are a number of techniques for SEO which include;

On page SEO: In this strategy, you focus on the content you have created on your website. Keyword research, sitemap, and Meta tags and meta description are important factors of on-page SEO. By keyword research, you can answer the searches and questions for readers and rank higher in search results.

Off-page SEO: This type of SEO is related to activities that you do off the page for ranking your website in search results. Here you create backlinks on other authority websites for ranking your content. Guest posts, link building and marketing your links on social media are examples of off page SEO

Content Marketing

It means the creation of content for the purpose of generating awareness, growing traffic, and generating leads and creating customers. You can do it by blog posts on a company blog. You can demonstrate your skills and generate search traffic for your business or services. Another thing that you can do for content marketing is eBook writing. Through eBook, informative journals, whitepapers you can educate website visitors. You can get readers to contact information and generate leads through the process. Infographics are also important tools of digital marketing and it gives the readers visual content. This is also important for your digital marketing strategy.

Social Media Marketing

Social media is becoming an important tool for digital marketing. You will be aware of different social media channels where you have different options to create and promote your content. Like search engines, social media also offer you organic and paid results. You can create social media pages, connects, business pages and promote your content. You can generate leads for your goods and services through social media. Facebook is an important social media channel you may post your status updates, set up business pages and boost and promote your content through adverts and campaigns. Other channels include Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Snapchat, Pinterest, etc. Almost all social media channels have advertising options.

Pay per Click

PPC is the method of driving promotion to your site by pay for every click on your ad most common example of PPC is Google Ads. It allows you to pay for every click on your advertisement. With Google ads, you run your campaigns and draw traffic for your websites, other examples of pay per click are Facebook ads, Twitter ads campaigns and sponsored messages on LinkedIn.
