How Blogs Can Positively Influence Lead Gen

By Garrett Lowe Published June 19, 2020 Updated October 14, 2022

Blogging is an increasingly popular way for companies to connect with their clients. Having and maintaining a blog can have a serious impact on your digital marketing plan. This can drive sales, populate new leads, and increase the overall traffic to your website.

Blogging consistently can also increase spruce up your SEO, and help you rank higher on Google.

Having A Blog Can Increase Lead Generation

You provide a service or have a product. All businesses do. Your website is full of helpful information about your company, and visitors to your site know what you do and where to go if they need to contact you.

But, without a blog, all of that information is stagnant.

With a blog, however, you can be releasing new, helpful information on your website on a constant basis, which will bring in more visitors. A whopping 97% of your blog readers will click on your website.

And, it’s a great way to constantly be evolving your SEO.

Keep Your SEO Up-To-Date

Search Engine Optimization is king when it comes to searches in Google and other search engines. But, trends for your company’s niche are always evolving. New keywords become popular search topics every day.

Having a blog, and someone knowledgeable enough to do keyword research for the posts, is a great way to keep your SEO fresh.

While creating a blog post that is full of great keywords is good, you also want to make sure that your blog post reads well to other people. Is it helpful, informative, and easy to read? Are people going to want to read it?

Provide Information About Your Company

Updating customers on what your company is doing is an excellent way to drum up new business.

One company that does this is Dropbox.

Dropbox’s blog is being updated continuously with news one where they are going with their technology. They give customers How To’s on their product, inform about upcoming updates within their services, and occasionally share information that is not connected to their company or services, but still provides valuable information.

Use your blog to inform visitors what you do, and how you do it.

Share information about other things that you do too, like giving to charity or helping out in your community.

Blogs help potential clients know that your company is run by humans, and having that human element really helps customers connect with you in a new and positive way.

Share Blogs to Social Platforms

Another key element of blogging is the ability to share your posts with your audience via social media.

Social Media Marketing is another huge step that companies, in recent years, have amped up their game. Sharing consistent information to your socials is a proven way to increase your following.

Plus, when you share a blog post to Facebook or Twitter, people can share or retweet that post, putting your name and company in front of more eyes. It’s a powerful way to drive lead gen and traffic to your site.

Another great advantage to sharing your blog posts on your socials goes back to SEO. By having more link-backs (the number of links that go back to your website) your site will rank higher in Google’s Search Engine Results Pages (SERP) algorithm, which will help to put your site on the first page of Google’s search results.

Consistency Is Key

The advantages of having a blog, however, rely on how consistently you update with a new post.

The more you write the more your content gets in front of people. Blogging weekly is great, but daily blogging is even better. Having fresh content is key to maintaining an online presence both within search engine’s algorithm and with social media.

In other words, having a blog that is not updated frequently is almost as bad as not having a blog at all.

Luckily, there are a lot of really great people out there who can help you keep up with the content needs. Just do a google search for “freelance blogger”, and you’ll find a whole slew of people who professionally blog for other companies just like you!

Conclusion

Having a blog is one of the most powerful digital marketing tools in your toolbox. No matter what your industry, maintaining a consistent blog can

  • Positively impact your lead generation
  • Give your SEO a fresh revamp
  • Help you rank higher in Google’s Algorithm
  • Keep your social media fresh with new content
  • Let people know who your are and what you do
  • Give your company a human element

Consistency is key, and being consistent doesn’t have to be hard with the help of freelance bloggers.

Sharing on social media is a powerful tool to getting more link-backs, more followers, and more shares.
