The question type of posts can really get a lot of people to leave replies on your blog, given that you’ve spread the news about your new post well enough to reach different networks. The answers to the questions could also become your next blog topics, depending on how good they are.

Great list Niall – my favourite tried and tested method is a weekly round up post of the best of the blogs I read (which I do on my blog each Friday) it has proved to be the most popular of all my blog posts – bloggers love to be acknowledged. Themed posts are a great way to keeping you focused too. I run a Motivation Monday slot which can be something as simple as a quote or a picture and again you can invite readers to submit their favourite motivational quote or story.  I also find inviting guest bloggers to be another great way to bring a new voice and perspective to my blog.

Fantastic! This is a really helpful summary of some key approaches, and very simple and easy to action. I think I fall into the danger of actually having ideas and have lists of topics and ideas, but find ti harder to get going and write them into postings. What this posting did was make me realise that as I been using the same approach and format on my blogs I suffer more from a block of getting going! I find ti dull even for myself as keep doing posts in the same way. I am going to use this checklist to add some variety and spice to my topics. Thanks for sharing these tips!

Thank you, Gary. You’re right, we all get in routines when it comes to our writing. I think it’s often a good idea before you write to first decide which type or combo will communicate the subject matter and engage the audience most effectively.

Thanks Marie, round up posts are also a great way to network online and build traffic. I’m surprised more bloggers don’t consider the networking potential of how and what they write.

I’m also a big fan of asking a question, even sometimes when I think I know the answer. Thanks for the comment.
