Anyone who follows me on Twitter will know that I love my inspirational quotes. If you are seeking employment or spend a lot of time working alone, inspirational quotes can help pull you out of a slump and get your motivational juices flowing again.

I am amazed at the positive impact they have had on me and many of my coaching clients. It is important that you look for quotes from people you respect and that the quote is relevant to you.

Your top quotes do not have come from famous or successful people. I will always remember a quote that my mum used to say to me – “Never turn your back on a passion”.

Hey Greg, Excellent post. I love number 13. Whenever I am stuck preparing a project, plan or even can’t figure out the next steps in the day I retrieve Franklin: “Fail to prepare, prepare to fail”. There you go, that’s my contribution today!

    Important point Greg about quotes.

I love them and I also love motivational stories – I like Jack Canfield’s books.

To add to your list – my new fav quote is from Jean Cocteau.

“We must believe in luck. For how else can we explain the success of those we don’t like?”

Have a lucky weekend everyone :-)

    Nice post Greg – some truly inspiring quotes. I have another – not sure it’s quite in the same vain though;

“There is no money in your business account” – A Bank Manager :)

Thanks Facundo, Barney and Paul for your comments and input. Loved your quote Barney. Hope everyone a great weekend. Here is a quote someone shared with me yesterday – “Success is a ladder that cannot be climbed with your hands in your pocket”

Really enjoyed reading this, Greg. I love the Henry Ford quote & have used it and the Edison quote when teaching students to illustrate the importance of creative thinking in problem solving. Whenever I find a quote that speaks to me, I copy it onto an index card and keep a box of them beside my desk for instant inspiration when I need it – needless to say, I’ll be adding a few of these! My current fave comes from Paul Arden’s book, ‘Whatever You Think, Think The Opposite’ – I have the book propped open at this page in a place where I’ll see it ever day:

Do it, then fix it as you go.

Thanks for your comments and insight Angela. I am a great believer in fixing things as I go.

Hi Greg, some great ones here! I have a few favorites of my own. The first one, from James Michener, says “Don’t put off for tomorrow what you can do today, because if you enjoy it today you can do it again tomorrow”. The second is from The Little Prince, by Antoine de Saint Exupery, where he says “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye”. Then of course there’s the wonderful Douglas Adams, who said “I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by.” I like that one. Have a good week!

    Thanks for sharing Paula.

Here is a quote I saw today and loved – “The difference between try and triumph is a little umph”

Benjamin Franklin never said anything so trite. It was Roy Keane, noted intellectual and footballer for Man U.

How very true Tori. It amazed me when I was an Ann Summers Manager the amount of party organisers that didn’t target male customers. When I first started I didn’t drive and I’d always leave a brochure with every taxi driver I hired and developed many loyal customers in them. Everyone is a potential customer for most products and yes, developing that all important relationship is the first step, knowing your product definitely comes second, sales technique comes third, in my opinion. Great post.

Thanks for your comments guys…nWhen concentration is put on sales technique I feel it creates a more pushy sales-person. All that will do is turn customers away.nAnd my male sales agents are doing well ;-) nnThanks to ye all for taking time to comment.
