10 Wisest Entrepreneurship Quotes
When you are looking to your own future success, especially in the business world, it is more than just helpful to look to the greats who have already been there. It is more like a crucial need, drawing from the experience of the people that managed to break into the big time. They have so much knowledge to impart, and while most of us would love the opportunity to pick their brains, it isn’t possible with many.
But we will always have their words, their quotes living on to teach and inspire us. Here are ten of the wisest entrepreneurship (or just business related) quotes from some of the greatest innovators of all time.
# 1. “I’m convinced that about half of what separates the successful entrepreneurs from the non-successful ones is pure perseverance.” Steve Jobs, Apple CEO
The late Steve Jobs has left behind a fascinating legacy. Just the comeback of Apple with the iPhone and following devices tells us so much about the need to keep pushing, no matter what. His perseverance paid off, and Apple has become the most successful company of our age. A whole new loyal fan base has been established, an even after his death the work he did for that company and others will live on in the products they have made.
# 2. “The things we fear most in organizations – fluctuations, disturbances, imbalances – are the primary sources of creativity.” Margaret J. Wheatley, Management Consultant
A big upset can lead to a big change, and desperation can bring about great success. You shouldn’t look at the hiccups of a business, especially a startup, as a negative. Rather, it is an opportunity for growth and learning, and to build a steadier foundation for your company.
# 3. “Openly share and talk to people about your idea. Use their lack of interest or doubt to fuel your motivation to make it happen.” Todd Garland, Founder of BuySellAds
Some of the best ideas have had the least support. Todd Garland of BuySellAds knows that from first hand experience. But he didn’t let the doubt of others get in the way of what he wanted to do. He created a successful business model and a site that thrives to this day.

# 4. ”You shouldn’t focus on why you can’t do something, which is what most people do. You should focus on why perhaps you can, and be one of the exceptions.” Steve Case, Co-Founder of AOL
AOL has had its struggles, and they are not very popular these days. But there was a time when the company ruled the online world, and everyone pretty much had them at some point. The “You’ve got mail” voice still holds a nostalgic quality for many of us. They can serve as both a lesson and a warning: you can do anything and become the biggest and best. But if you don’t adapt with the times, you will fall back into obscurity.
# 5. ”I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.” Thomas Edison
We all know that Thomas Edison, an inventor and entrepreneur among many other titles, was a genius. His work with General Electric changed the way our entire society was run. He also speaks of perseverance here, of continuing on no matter how many times an idea fails to bring success. Not all ideas will come to fruition; what is important are the ones that do. Who cares how many tries it takes to get there?
# 6. ”Out there in some garage is an entrepreneur who’s forging a bullet with your company’s name on it.” Gary Hamel, Founder of Strategos
Gary Hamel offers a grave, but entirely realistic, warning to businesses that are already finding success: never get complacent. No matter how big you get, there is always going to be someone out there to challenge what you have done and offer a product that could knock you out of the top spot. You should always be looking to improve, grow and adapt. Innovation doesn’t end when the profits start rolling in.

# 7. ”If things seem under control, you’re just not going fast enough.” Mario Andretti, Race Driver
While it isn’t a business quote, and Mario Andretti is not a businessman, this is a quote that applies very much to an entrepreneurship venture. If everything is smooth and easy, you are probably doing something wrong. A startup takes time, effort, blood, sweat and tears. But even more than that, it takes real risk. Expect a ulcer by the end of the first year, and if it is too easy you should question yourself on what you can do to change that.

# 8 ”Empower yourself and realize the importance of contributing to the world by living your talent. Work on what you love. You are responsible for the talent that has been entrusted to you.” Catharina Bruns, Founder of WorkIsNotaJob
Having a talent is a responsibility. Not only to the world that should know about it, but to yourself. When you have a passion, something that comes naturally to you, it should be contributed to the world to improve your own life, and the lives of others.
# 9. “Be nice to geeks, you’ll probably end up working for one.” Bill Gates, Co-Founder Microsoft
Bill Gates is one of the most recognizable names in both the technology and business worlds. He offers a bit of advice to the youths of our world in particular. Advice that should be heeded, because it is true: geeks run the world.
# 10. “The higher you go in a company, the less oxygen there is, so supporting intelligent life becomes difficult.” Guy Kawasaki, Business Consultant and Author
Not everyone who has made it to the top necessarily deserves to be there. You have the innovators, and then you have the ladder climbers you have managed to claw their way up using sheer force of personality and cunning. Guy Kawasaki has worked at the top of several companies, and now the Silicone Valley legend wants you to know that, no, it isn’t just you thinking it: some corporate higher ups are morons.
